One of the most significant events in the life of a person who follows Christ is his or her baptism.

Baptism is an outward, public expression of an inward reality that takes place in the life of one who trusts in Christ for salvation. If you鈥檝e trusted in Jesus and haven鈥檛 been baptized, we strongly encourage you to consider taking this important step.

We baptize people today because Jesus told us that after a person has become His follower (or disciple), they鈥檙e supposed to be baptized. The purpose of baptism is to show people in both the church and the community that they鈥檝e become a follower of Jesus. Baptism will not cause God to forgive them鈥攐r help them get to heaven. The Bible does not teach this and we鈥檙e shown by example as well. When Jesus was hanging on the cross, the thief hanging beside Him asked, 鈥淩emember me when you come into your Kingdom.鈥 There was no opportunity for the thief to be baptized but Jesus told the thief that He would see him in heaven that very day. 鈥

One of Jesus鈥 final instructions to His followers:

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

What does an 最色导航 Baptism Look Like?

When should someone be baptized?

Baptism should be done after a person has trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of his or her sins. Jesus tells us to make disciples and baptize; 最色导航 believes He meant it to be done in that order. That鈥檚 also the pattern seen in the Bible in .

In Romans 6:1-4, the apostle Paul explains the symbolism of Christian baptism; baptism expresses our faith commitment to participate in Jesus鈥 death and resurrection:

That鈥檚 what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus.
