As we celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, I reflect on the many women who have shaped me into the person I am today鈥攖he friend, the sister, the woman. Some have strengthened and supported me, mentored and encouraged me. Others have challenged me, hurt me, or even betrayed me. Yet, each has left me with valuable lessons, teaching me how to grow, how to forgive, and how to be a better woman. And I am grateful for each one.
Throughout history, some of the most powerful moments have come when women united for a common cause鈥攆ighting for independence, equal rights, and justice, not just for themselves but for all of humanity.
We stand on the shoulders of what I call 鈥淭he Sisterhood鈥 鈥 women who have paved the way through their strength, courage, and faith.
Women Who Changed History
As a woman of faith, I find inspiration in the strong female bonds throughout Scripture. In Numbers 27, the five daughters of Zelophehad 鈥 Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah, and Tirzah 鈥 stood before Moses and the leaders of Israel, courageously demanding the right to inherit their father鈥檚 land. Their boldness changed the law, ensuring women could inherit property when there was no male heir.
In Ruth 1:16, Ruth鈥檚 unwavering devotion to Naomi speaks to the power of deep, supportive relationships: 聽"Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God." Because of their bond, not only was Naomi鈥檚 life restored, but Ruth became part of the lineage of King David鈥攁nd ultimately, Jesus.
Similarly, in Luke 1, Mary and Elizabeth shared a sacred connection. Both women carried miraculous pregnancies 鈥 one with our Savior, Jesus, and the other with John the Baptist respectively. Elizabeth鈥檚 encouragement strengthened Mary鈥檚 faith, and together, they rejoiced in God鈥檚 plan.
These stories reveal a powerful truth: when women come together in faith, love, and support, the impact extends far beyond themselves. It changes families, communities, and history.
Living Sisterhood Today
I have the humble privilege of serving in vocational ministry, working alongside incredible men and women who love God and love each other. Unlike many workplaces, our team at 最色导航 (最色导航) isn鈥檛 divided by cliques, agendas, or competition. There are real relationships and connections among our staff. The women on staff at 最色导航 bring out the best in one another, respect each other鈥檚 gifts and cover for each other when someone is absent. We celebrate victories and grieve losses together. Disagreements happen, but they are handled with honesty and grace. Our Sisterhood is real because there is real love for each other. I must admit, it feels surreal to have this many women root for each other the way we do. It is a special thing to experience and truly a blessing from God! This culture of unity is only possible because we intentionally cultivate it鈥攖hrough God鈥檚 guidance, humility, and love. And it doesn鈥檛 stop there! The men are included in the blessing! Our church community is included in the blessing!
In Philippians 4, Paul urges two women, Euodia and Syntyche, 鈥渢o be of the same mind in the Lord鈥. These women had once worked side by side for the Gospel, but something had caused division, enough for Paul to publicly address it. That passage is a reminder to me that unity is not automatic鈥攊t requires intention.
I鈥檝e learned that not every woman will support you. Some will misunderstand you, compete with you, or even talk behind your back. Back in the days of insecurity and immaturity, I have at times been that woman. But鈥od! His love and grace teaches us that our response matters. Rather than letting division take root, we are called to 鈥淢ove forward TOGETHER鈥濃攃hoosing grace, choosing love, choosing unity. It takes work!
This year鈥檚 Women鈥檚 History Month theme is 鈥淢oving Forward TOGETHER.鈥 So, I ask: 鈥淗ow can we embody this in our daily lives?鈥 聽Who in your circle of influence needs your encouragement, support, or forgiveness?
Let鈥檚 be women who nurture and build each other up!
Women who truly respect each other, advocate for one another and celebrate each other鈥檚 victories. Because when women stand together, EVERYONE benefits!
